30 days of beauty ~ day 10

I was sitting watching the blue sky with big fluffy white clouds.

As they started to get darker and thicker.

It looks like we might be getting some rain.

And here it is.

30 days of beauty ~ day 9

My Paperwhite Narcissus  are blooming:

As well as the Grape Hyacinth:

winning gold

Saturday the Virginia Air and Space center had their annual egg drop. We had some out of town friends come down to visit and participate in the drop. It was fun to build the contraptions and drop the eggs. What kid wouldn't like to drop an egg 2-3 floors to see if it breaks or not.

Parachute Category 5th grade and under - Gold

Parachute Category 6th - 8th grade - Gold

Parachute Category double egg 6th - 8th grade - Gold

Non-Parachute Category - Bronze

The Parachute Category Most Creative - Gold

Our team brought home 5 medals!

Everyone is talking of next year's competition and what they are going to enter.  There is going to be a couple more team members next year because they want to join in the fun dropping eggs!

30 days of beauty ~ day 8

sunset

"the best jeans ever"

A favorite pair of jeans finally gave out and their owner didn't want to let them go or cut them into shorts because, "they are the best jeans ever."

So last night I did some repairs.

And some accessorizing.

And now their owner is happy and she gets to keep "the best jeans ever" for a while longer.

30 days of beauty ~ day 7

It won't be long before......

...we will have warmer days and our glacier pool will melt .
I am enjoying its beauty while I can.

When it is beyond hot this summer I will be thinking of winter and all its beauty again.

30 days of beauty ~ day 6

I just love the crunch of the frozen grass and the cracking of ice pools as I walk across the lawn in the morning.

Just about as much as I love to see the frost and ice melt as the sun begins to warm things up.

30 days of beauty ~ day 5

I am not a morning person; I am more of a night owl. One thing that helps me get going in the early morning is taking my time and not rushing things. I will take my cup of hot chocolate and watch the sun rise and enjoy the beauty of the morning. It helps me prepare to take on all the things I need to do for the day.

The Quest Giver

My Littles woke up today and were very excited about the falling snow.  I am so thankful that they can enjoy it.  Last year all the snow we got was a couple dustings that were so light that we could hardly make a few snowballs.

My kids are awesome. I have said it before, but it still stands true. They got right to work today getting their lessons and studies done. They practiced their piano and did their morning chores. Everyone stayed on task and quickly finished up by 10am. Then off to play in the snow.

Here the Quest Giver is telling the Heroes of their newest adventure.

And now they are off to find and kill the Giant Snow Monster.

tea set update # 3
I made a serving plate and now I am working on filling it up with yummy treats.

I am starting to think of cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles.

30 days of beauty ~ day 2

Samantha came running into the house all excited.  She was talking very fast telling me of the birds on our neighbor's house that were bigger then herself.  The beauty of these vultures was increased in my mind by her excitement and joy to see them so closely.

There was a rustling in the rubble from another neighbor’s broken fence and tree from a recent winter storm. When we looked we saw a 5th vulture rummaging and I got this shot as it began to take flight.

We watched the vultures for a while longer until they all were soaring away.

30 Days of Beauty

I have decided to accept Erin of bluebirdbaby's 30 Days of Beauty photo challenge. It is a challenge to find something beautiful every day and photograph it. It doesn't need to be every day for 30 days. It just needs to be 30 days before spring. With 40 days left until spring it is a challenge I feel I can finish. What a great way to enjoy the beauty of winter while eagerly waiting for spring to arrive.

day 1

If you would like to join click on the 30 Days of Beauty button under my profile picture and let Erin know you accept the challenge too.  I would love to see pictures of what you find beautiful.

Déjà vu

Last weekend it snowed. It snowed a LOT for Southeastern Virginia. Schools were off last Friday and didn't hold classes again until Thursday. I am glad the snow didn't affect our school schedule. All classes were still healed even with the teacher being sick. My boys did their lessons and helped their sisters too. Have I said before I have awesome kids!

I was surprised that Strider liked the snow.  If I had his fur I wouldn't stay out there (his belly is fur free.)

Today is Friday and it is snowing again.  Fingers crossed no one gets sick.
