Dear Birdgirl,

While writing in my journal this morning a bird flew at the window by my table.  It fell to the ground; laying there with its wings spread and not moving.  I was worried it was hurt.  No sooner then I gasped a hero was there to lift the little bird up.  He told me it was blinking so I grabbed my camera and joined them outside.

The little chickadee is doing well.  After being held for a few minutes he began to hop around on his hero's arm to shoulder to hat.  Then he jumped to the railing of the deck then back to the hero's shoulder before flying to the feeder to eat.  We watched him until he was finished eating and flew away.

I thought of you while watching the little chickadee today.  It reminded me of experiences you have mentioned with little wild birds and I wanted to tell you of ours.
xoxoxo,

the beach and an egg hunt

Wednesday was a beautiful day and we had to enjoy it at the beach.

My Girlies played on mermaid rock.

I don't think I would like the feel of this, but the Girlies thought it was fun.

My Guys just wanted to do one thing:

They kept at it for quite a while.

While their sisters splashed in the sea.

And soaked up some sun.

Until we were joined by some friends and it was time to go on the egg hunt.

This Guy decided that a little forrest was more fun than finding plastic eggs filled with candy.

first day of spring

We went to the Bluebird Gap Farm for a 4-H meeting Saturday.  We were so busy enjoying ourselves that we didn't take any pictures.  My littlest little realized this before we left and asked for my camera; "I want to take some pictures so you can blog about this."

She wanted you to meet Wilber.

If I get an alpaca some day, she wants it to be cute like this one.

Her favorite geese.

a little sewing

This pillow has been sitting on my table unsewn since the day after I made my last pillows.  It was taking up my working space and keeping me from other projects. Sometimes I do that, get all the hard work done and then just stop.  Sometimes life gets busy or perhaps that is just my excuse for being a lazy sewer.

I have started thinking of new covers for the 12 pillows in my stash closet.  This time I will put zippers in them (already thinking of changing the covers on the ones  just made.)  Though, it will probably be a couple years before I get around to it.

30 days of beauty ~ day 28

We have some wonderful friends who invited us over to see their two week old kittens.

The proud mama is such a wonderful cat, she let the littles pick up her babies while she stood guard.

30 days of beauty ~ day 27

walking in the rain, enjoying the fresh air, listening to birds sing, a bird not afraid of my dog sniffing about the tree; today was a familiar day with a small twist that brought me joy.

30 days of beauty ~ day 23

I'm catching up on letter writing, finishing up reading a book, writing in my journal, while sipping a cup or two of peppermint tea; enjoying another beautiful morning.

30 days of beauty ~ day 22

I woke and knew today would be a curl up on the couch kind of day. Not in a bad way though. There is a beautiful breeze drifting in through the open windows. Along with the songs of robins, black capped chickadees, Carolina wrens, house wrens, mourning doves, house finches, and the house sparrows living on our porch.
My littles are identifying the songs of the birds using their Bird Songs books.

I think we will have a Liberty's Kids marathon and I will read a book.

sand shadows

When we were at the beach yesterday I had a little fun taking pictures of my shadow on the sand.

My now 6' tall son did a few of his own.

Shadow self portraits; I definitely want to play around with this some more.
