fibers on friday ~ dishcloths

This dishcloth has been sitting on my needles for a couple weeks untouched.  It is about time that I finish it.

Go to Visions of Sugar Plums to see what fiber projects others are working on this week.

finding three...

...new slithering friends in the garden.

My littles had such fun playing with their new friends today.  Then brought them into the house in the evening and almost lost one.  My oldest was quick on the grab and got a hold of it before it slithered away.  I am thankful for his quick reflexes.

I don't mind snakes, but having one loose in the house is a little too creepy for me.

Now our friends have a place of their own while they visit for a few days.

*Their guest house does have a top to keep them in.

starting something...

...new for autumn

here i stand with...

...my littles. We collected over 20 pounds of tomatoes today. I am thankful that our garden is still giving us this wonderful fruit.

here i stand...

...among the morning glories growing in our resting compost.

They are growing up my shed.

Stretching up toward the sun.

look...

...at this beautiful sky I see right now.

piles of...

...finished pillowcases folded neatly on my table.

I wanted to make sure that teen boys were not forgotten in ConKerr Cancer's  Miles of Pillowcase Smiles project.  So my oldest son helped pick the fabric to make this lot of pillowcases.  We hung a few of his favorites on the fence line.

These three are his absolute favorite and the blue peacock one in the middle is our family top choice.  But if it was October, the black and green bats could have won.

I will be shopping for more of the peacock fabric this weekend.  Even though I don't need any more fabric (look at Wednesday's post for proof of that.)  It is just that it so pretty and I can see it as new covers for my pillows.

last thursday...

...we went camping with friends.

Or at least that was the plan; a 3 day 2 night campout.  On Thursday I had a migraine and didn't feel like camping.  The heat index of 111 wasn't helping.  By late evening I was feeling a bit better and took my littles to the campsite. We wanted to roast marshmallows and hotdogs and spend time with our friends.

We never made it to roasting marshmallows and hotdogs due to forces of nature.   We didn't even get the camp fire started.  You should head over to The Spivey Family and read more about our camping adventure.  I am thankful that everyone is safe.

Last Thursday's campout ended like this:

why i don't...

...have rabbits and squirrels in my garden.

I am thankful for our wonderful Strider.  We are blessed to have him in our family.

here i stand...

...at my sewing table.

Looking at the unfinished pillowcases I need to work on.

Glancing around my work area and seeing the untidiness and unfinished projects that have been piling up for months; I really should tend to this mess.

Then deciding to ignore it and begin sewing.

Here I sit sewing. Wondering how long I can avoid tending to my work area mess.

here i walk...

...through the garden after a much needed rain.   The mud and water squishing through my toes brings me joy.  The forecast calls for scattered thunder storms for the next 3 days. I hope and pray we get rain every day; we need it.

Here I stand looking at my tomatoes which seem brighter after the rain shower.  I am thankful I won't have to water them today.
