birthday and the beach

I took my Girlies across town for a birthday party this afternoon.  I left prepared to be stuck in weekend traffic for an hour.  We got lucky and didn't have to deal with any traffic which was awesome and odd. So having some time to kill we went to the beach.

My Girlies noticed the spray from the breaking waves and took off running.

They wrote a birthday message in the sand for their friend.

Then took a walk down the beach to search for some seashells for the birthday girl.

eyes on the horizon

We went to the beach today and kept our eyes on the horizon.

looking to catch the first glimps

of the USS Enterprise returning to port from deployment

Now to wait for the call from my Love saying, "I can leave the ship."

Good thing we have the beach to help distract us from our wait.

and a little distraction knitting.

outdoor monday ~ beach

My oldest wanted to go to the beach on his birthday.  We all were more than willing to help that birthday wish come true. It was a lovely day celebrating with an amazing young man.

we were curious...

...to see what Earl was doing to the sea this morning.

What a beautiful day at the beach!

I thought the sea might be a bit rougher so I told my littles no bathing suits when we left this morning. Our plan was to watch the waves that Earl kicked up. It became a lost cause to keep them out of the water when the safe to swim flags were up. We had lots of fun and everyone ended up swimming in their street clothes.

Looks like I won't need to cut back the morning glories from my porch swing after all.

outdoor monday ~ birthday

We had a birthday request of going to the beach and woke up to a gray overcast day.  By 7:30 this morning the skies opened up and the rain was pouring down.  I am so happy for my lawn and garden that we finally got some rain.  But my little birthday girl looked like she was going to pour down tears and asked if we could still go to the beach.  My boys didn't even wait for me to answer they piped in with "as long as there is no lightning and thunder."  They know that you can't let some rain stop you from having some fun!

They started to dig.

And dig,

The digging started to take shape.

After a couple hours of digging, they made a canal connecting two coves.

After a little boy was stung my girls went looking for sea jellies to catch and throw back into the sea by the rocks. They got a couple stings themselves, but they said it really didn't hurt; at least not enough to stop them from having fun.

mermaid treasure

We celebrated a friend’s birthday last weekend and had an awesome time. The birthday girl loves mermaids and the color aquamarine. It is not just aqua. You can ask the birthday girl or make the mistake of calling the color aqua like I did.

We decided to make her a mermaid’s treasure chest and fill it with mermaid treasure.

It was so much fun making this gift my girlies want to make their own next week when the boys are at Scout camp.

this and that

My mom and two of my nieces came out to visit the last couple weeks.  I enjoyed having them here and want to share some photos of what we were up to.

the beach and an egg hunt

Wednesday was a beautiful day and we had to enjoy it at the beach.

My Girlies played on mermaid rock.

I don't think I would like the feel of this, but the Girlies thought it was fun.

My Guys just wanted to do one thing:

They kept at it for quite a while.

While their sisters splashed in the sea.

And soaked up some sun.

Until we were joined by some friends and it was time to go on the egg hunt.

This Guy decided that a little forrest was more fun than finding plastic eggs filled with candy.
